*Job Title: Senior Payroll Specialist*

* Supports business process strategies for Employee Life Cycle to achieve efficiency, productivity, and improved control.
* Assists with implementation of key strategies and projects.
*Operational Services*
Oversees the complex multi-state, multi-frequency payroll administration and offers support as needed to the team.
- Supports end-to-end payroll activities, including off-cycle payrolls and retro events.
Ensures that all employee earnings and deductions are accurate and in compliance with payroll wage and tax legal requirements and ABB internal compensation policies.
- Assists with Gross to Net calculations, provides communication, and processes recovery activities for overpayment process.
- Uses problem-solving skills to research escalations, provide operational subject matter expertise on payroll processes, and proactively communicate with internal and external business partners.
- Administers compliance with ABB policies, regulations, wage and tax laws, segregation of duties, SOX and other federal and state legislation impacting payroll.
- Monitors Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure processes are efficient and that there is proper documentation.
- Assists with system testing ensuring tools, processes or systems changes are implemented.
- Supports team with payroll calculations, reports, queries, and conducts appropriate audits to ensure data integrity and overall process improvements.
- Interprets guidelines for tax withholdings, deductions, adjustments and/or garnishments as well as imputed income items.
- Confirms that all controls are functioning as designed and proactively identifies areas for improvement in internal controls.
- Assists with quarterly and annual audit engagements with ABB’s Internal & External Auditors.
Ensures informational requests are documented, information is provided and that any issues are clearly identified and resolved.
- Assists with Year-End payroll processing activities and other payroll impacting projects
- Facilitates a respectful work environment

- Coach and guide team members on Complex queries to help develop their process knowledge
*Customer Experience*
- Resolves ServiceNow cases in accordance with the Key Performance Indicators, while also providing exceptional customer service
- Build strong working relationships with various cross-functional groups throughout Human Resources to deliver exceptional customer service experience by responding accurately and timely to customer requests
- Provide feedback to customer facing teams and equip them with knowledge to respond to customer requests
- Create awareness and guide employees (as applicable) on Self service functions
*Continuous Improvement*
- Submits change or enhancement requests when necessary, such as new wage types and compliance updates.
- Provides recommendations for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
Confirms that all controls are functioning as designed and proactively identifies areas for improvement in internal controls.
Includes testing of segregation of duties (SOD), testing of payroll service’s controls and identifies “gaps”, as well as participating in annual SOX testing and validation exercises.
- Identify and implement improvement ideas by challenging the status-quo (especially processes that are manual/repetitive)
*Must Haves:*
- Will only consider candidates with Workday payroll experience
- A relevant Bachelor's degree with five years of payroll including time experience (inclusive of 2 years leading a team) or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience in a shared services environment and SAAS Systems
- Knowledge of HR practices, laws, policies and procedures
- Hands-on experience with multi-state and multi-company payroll
- Exceptional analytical, communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and other MS Office applications
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt well to changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Strong detail orientation and time management skills
- Professional demeanor and strong executive presence
