Overview
This position performs bookkeeping, accounting, and analysis at an advanced level of volume and support for the Accounting function of the Bank.
Reviews financial transactions, prepares reports, and performs account reconcilements both manually and through the technical accounting system.
Processes financial statements and data to provide resolution to customer requests.
Assists in special projects, audits, and other accounting initiatives as needed.
May handle escalated customer inquiries or provide leadership for less experienced specialists in the work group.
Responsibilities
Processing - Performs and monitors daily processing of financial transactions such as invoices, expense reports, and journals.
Enters data into financial systems and independently resolves processing issues to aid accounting efforts of the work group.
Position requires the ability to apply accounting policy and procedures to daily activities.
Operational Support - Assists in month-end close activities, high-volume reconcilement of accounts, and data analysis to ensure accuracy of the Bank's financial statements.
Researches and addresses customer inquiries.
Identifies and explains account variances on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Resolves exceptions within the Bank's policies and recommends adjustments.
Prepares journal entries, reports, and other documentation as necessary.
System Support - Assists with system changes and testing including upgrades, troubleshooting, and new system searches.
Partners with other business units to accomplish these tasks.
Accounting Knowledge - Develops an understanding of the internal control program and associated functions in order to support associates, customers, and managers.
Utilizes knowledge of accounting regulations and policies to ensure compliance in all activities, and to offer guidance in escalated customer inquiries.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Audit, or Financial Analysis OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Audit, or Financial Analysis
Skill(s): Basic understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
