*JOB SUMMARY* The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading a team who will monitor, forecast and reconcile the overall budget for Wine To Water.
This position will manage financial transactions using the organization’s donor, fundraising, and accounting systems, and provide budgetary support for teams to be effective in carrying out Wine To Water’s (WTW) mission.
This position will implement accounting and fiscal standards to ensure WTW conducts its business in full compliance with all national and international laws and regulations that pertain to its particular mission and tax exemption.
The Finance Team provides timely and accurate financial reports to team members including the Board of Directors, staff, interns and volunteers.
*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES* ● Manage financial needs associated with all our international field offices.
Work with country directors and International Programs team to improve SOPs and planning.
● Facilitate budget planning and organizational initiatives to support sustainable business practices, accounting for $4 million+ in revenue.
● Lead and assist international teams financial leads with funds management and QuickBooks accounting.
● Strategize revenue generating initiatives and aid in the management of specific donations based on monetary forecasts.
● Organize and lead projects with the finance team to improve systems and reach individual/team goals.
● Collaborate with the finance team to deliver data reports that clearly communicate the fiscal health of the organization.
● Monitor budget accountability by directors.
● Manage Accounts Receivable and ensure payments are collected within 30/60 days.
● Update our balance sheet regularly to reflect timely reconciliations by the team.
● Maintain good relationships with vendors and guarantee timely payments.
● Manage and monitor bank accounts to uphold a healthy cash position.
● Negotiate vendor contracts to ensure compliance and risk management.
● Maintain good relationships with our banks and negotiate the best rates on a regular basis.
● Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions ● Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results ● Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements ● Coordinating activities of external auditors ● Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process ● Managing the budget process ● Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes ● Evaluating accounting and internal control systems ● Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed ● Developing and monitoring business performance metrics ● Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance ● Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff ● Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance ● Be a strategy partner with the Director of Finance on projects for expansion plans.
● Business Model * Guide budget planning and organizational initiatives to support sustainable business practices * Advise leadership on prospective financial models to diversify funding * Analyze organizational opportunities and threats ● Budget Analysis * Lead grant/proposal financial reporting * Maintain frequent budget vs.
actual reports * Oversee team efforts for sharing data and informed decision-making ● Project Management * Oversee daily activities & operations within the Finance team.
* Maintain updated SOPs ● International Finance Training * Implement organizational financial standards in field offices * Provide training and support for international teams * Lead international team participation in budget process *QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE* ● Required: Minimum 3 years experience in managing and leading teams in the accounting/finance function ● Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field ● (MBA) or professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant ● 2+ years’ experience working with an international nonprofit organization ● Expert experience with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets ● Passion for working in the nonprofit sector ● An eye for creating efficiencies and keeping track of details ● Ability to work with confidential documents, using discretion regarding information held ● Self-motivation to work independently, take initiative and anticipate need ● Ability to balance multiple priorities with an appropriate sense of urgency ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong sense of professionalism ● Talent for creating and managing systems ● Flexibility and adaptability ● Love of continuous learning and professional development ● Commitment to our mission and our values of servant leadership, interdependence and extreme ownership *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, DOCUMENTATION AND SAFETY* ● Sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and operate office equipment; the employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, kneel, and at times may be required to lift 25+ pounds and can be exposed to indoor, outdoor temperatures and various living situations.
