Occupational Summary:
Position primarily involves the audit/approval of online expense reports including corporate card and out of pocket receipts to ensure documentation meets internal and external substantiation requirements for the purpose of posting transactions to the general ledger and reimbursing Duke University and Duke University Health System employees and students for business related expenses.
This position will also provide ongoing system support related to the online tool; and other duties incidental to the work described herein.
Duties:
Review/approve online travel, reimbursement and corporate card expense reports to ensure documentation meets internal and external substantiation requirements per University and IRS guidelines
Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements
Provide excellent service to ET&R customers; answering phone and email inquiries related to the online travel tool and providing technical support as needed
Communicate travel and reimbursement policies and procedures to customers
Accurate data entry of travel and miscellaneous reimbursement form information.
Assist with office research.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Education
Qualifications:
Work generally requires 2 years of experience in a high volume accounting/data processing setting or 2 years of post-secondary education in an accounting or business related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience'
Other:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a high-pressure environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires knowledge of general accounting principles usually through two years post-secondary education in accounting or a related business field.
Experience
Work generally requires 3 years of experience in an accounting setting OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE to become familiar with the accepted accounting practices involved in maintaining more complex financial records, reconciling accounting information and preparing financial statements.
