What We Are Looking For:
This position is primarily responsible for preparation of tax accounting for US GAAP and US STAT including life insurance tax adjustments.
In addition the role will be heavily involved in the tax return process; review/prepare federal and state tax returns and related workpapers, assisting with quarterly estimates and working with tax providers and assisting in the tax return information gathering process.
Position is also responsible for preparing the provision to tax return computations, basic tax research and will assist with special projects including tax planning.
This role reports to the the Tax Leader and is located in our Durham, NC office.
What You Will Do:
Prepare quarterly and year end US GAAP and Statutory current provisions and deferred tax accounting
Assist with special projects including tax planning
Assist in the tax return process including information gathering process
Work with 3rd party service providers
Perform basic tax research and analysis projects
Assist with IRS, state tax examinations and general tax notice response
What We Require:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
Requires moderate knowledge of tax accounting under ASC 740 and basic federal tax compliance skills
Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
Interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access applications.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
