In this crucial role, the BSA Officer will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance program.
The BSA/AML Compliance Officer is responsible for directing the BSA Staff in detecting unusual or suspicious activity in a timely manner and in an effort to safeguard the integrity of the Bank.
ESSENTAIL DUTIES
1.
BSA/AML Compliance:
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering compliance program.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern and implement appropriate controls.
2.
Policy and Procedure Development:
Draft, update, and communicate BSA/AML policies and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance to staff on compliance matters and promote a strong compliance culture throughout the organization.
3.
Training and Awareness:
Develop and conduct training programs to educate employees on BSA/AML regulations and requirements.
Foster a culture of awareness and accountability regarding suspicious activities and reporting obligations.
4.
Suspicious Activity Monitoring:
Implement and manage systems for monitoring and reporting suspicious activities.
Investigate and report any unusual or potentially suspicious transactions in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
5.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain detailed records of BSA/AML activities, including documentation of investigations and resolutions.
6.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Collaborate with other departments to assess and mitigate risks associated with BSA/AML compliance.
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Adhere specifically to all corporate policies and procedures.
Employee must adhere to Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/OFAC and Customer Identification Policy and procedures at all times.
Maintains knowledge of the Bank’s services to take advantage of opportunities for selling and cross-selling of products and services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in BSA/AML compliance within a banking environment.
In-depth knowledge of BSA regulations, AML laws, and other relevant industry standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or other relevant certifications.
Experience with regulatory examinations and audits.
Familiarity with community banking operations.
