We are in search of a skilled Staff Accountant to ensure the accuracy and
efficiency of our accounting operations and help us maintain our financial health.
Position Overview:
In this position, you will play an integral role by serving as the Senior Accountant to a dedicated business line with responsibility for a wide-range of accounting duties from owning most aspects of General Ledger accounting and monthly closing procedures to financial reporting support to maintaining records and ensuring accuracy of information reported.
This role is dedicated to our Fortress Fencing business unit with direct reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
Lead the period-end accounting process for the business
Support the FP&A function and business unit leaders in reviewing Financial Statements and business unit performance
Research and analyze expense variance for company management
Assist with the annual audit process and related requests
Under the direction of the Corporate Accounting Manager:
- Support business analysis with recording and recognizing revenue monthly
- Complete bank account and credit card statement reconciliations
- Ensure proper period-end cut-off
- Record capital asset purchases, disposals, and depreciation
- Prepare and record expense or other accruals
- Prepare other journal entries when required
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies when needed
- Adhere to reporting schedules
- Maintain internal controls, ensuring proper accounting procedures and policies are being followed by all departments
- Ensure timely performance of month-end close activities
Provide period-end analysis and reporting as requested
Support the budgeting and forecasting processes as requested
Build strong relationships with internal departments, including IT, HR, Procurement, and others
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent education
3+ years of professional accounting experience or other relevant experience
Demonstrated understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and GAAP
Experience working for a public accounting firm a plus
A professional certification (e.
g.
, CPA) or seeking a certification a plus
Experience in the renewable energy or construction industries a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is essential
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
