*Senior Accountant*
The *Senior Accountant* will provide accounting services to a portfolio of companies who have secured government grants.
The position reports to the Director of Accounting & Compliance, and oversees the work of Staff Accountants.
The Senior Accountant will join an established team that currently provides accounting and compliance services to 200+ early-stage companies and has earned a national reputation in supporting small businesses who have received government grant funding.
*Specific job duties*:
* Serve as Client Lead for Accounting and Compliance engagements.
* Provide expertise in both GAAP accounting and grant accounting standards.
* Provide full-service accounting support for small and medium-sized businesses.
* Oversee Staff Accountants in booking transactions and preparing financial reports.
* Complete depreciation schedules, accrued revenue, journal entries, and other schedules.
* Ensure client timesheets are entered properly into accounting system
* Sign off on monthly financial reports for clients.
* Support Clients’ government reporting needs.
* Lead setup packages for new clients to assist them with establishing a corporate infrastructure and protocols that are in compliance with federal granting agency regulations.
* Prepare invoices and drawdown funds from funding agencies.
* Write, update and review Accounting Policies & Procedures Manuals for Clients.
* Support clients in audits.
* Support indirect rate negotiations and incurred cost submissions.
* Provide gap analyses to identify areas in which clients are non-compliant with general accounting and government granting agency regulations.
* Contribute to development of internal policies.
* Contribute to educational resources and professional development opportunities to facilitate continual professional growth.
*Core Competencies:*
* Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
* Familiarity with accounting needs for small businesses (LLCs, S Corps, C Corps)
* Excellent organizational skills
* Able to convey information and ideas clearly and concisely
* Proficient at planning, organizing & managing projects
* Adaptable to changing priorities
* Open to continuous learning and feedback
* Work well independently and cooperatively with others
* Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams
*Minimum Qualifications:*
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
* Minimum 4 years experience in accounting
* Experience with government grant accounting, strongly preferred
* Proficiency with QuickBooks, preferred
