Job Summary:
This remote position, Head of Tax, is responsible for being the head of and leading IPG’s tax accounting and compliance team.
This position will primarily be responsible for leading the preparation of tax provisions for our family of brands, managing all tax compliance work-streams, collaborating on capital efficiency structuring and strategy, and mentoring the staff of the IPG tax accounting and compliance team.

Main Responsibilities:
Lead the quarterly/annual preparation of the consolidated IPG tax provision on a US GAAP basis (ASC 740) and on STAT basis for IAIC.
Advise on technical tax accounting aspects of complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions and maintain compliance with US GAAP on any tax accounting issues.
Build tax accounting processes and internal controls for assessment of risk.
Oversee the preparation and review of all U.
S.
federal, state, and local income tax filings and related extension and estimated tax payments as well as all Canadian income tax filings with the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) as well as province income tax filings and related extension and estimated tax payments.
Manage staff on preparation of U.
S.
sales and use tax returns as well as GST/HST/QST filings for Canada.
Coordinate with the Group CFOs and Group Controller as need be to field questions and provide any information regarding IPG’s tax positions.
Coordinate with advisors on tax due diligence for acquisitions and ensuring tax efficient transaction structuring as needed.
Maintain ownership of IPG’s transfer pricing efforts.
Oversee all tax audits and respond to inquiries from various taxing authorities in jurisdictions IPG operates in on an as needed basis.
Lead the preparation of tax footnotes on a US GAAP and STAT basis.
Collaborate closely with the Group finance team to support budgeting and capital planning.
This includes tax planning strategies to maximize the Company’s after-tax profits as well as capital allocation efficiencies.
Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate growing tax team by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters in Accounting or Taxation
CPA license
15+ years of tax experience with at least five years experience in tax provisions and compliance ideally within the insurance sector coupled with Big 4 experience
Strong understanding of corporate tax matters, including transfer pricing considerations
Experience with all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel)
Working knowledge of international tax, including Canadian tax, GILTI and BEAT, is a plus
Knowledge of SALT is a plus
