*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
The Staff Accountant is responsible for financial functions including accounting, bookkeeping, grant accounting, and reporting.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
● Processes the daily and monthly closing and reconciliation of accounting records
● Ensures all grant revenues and expenditures are recorded accurately
● Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
● Enter billings and process invoices
● Reconcile monthly credit card statements
● Maintains the general ledger
● Maintain accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, contract requirements, and funder requirements
● Maintain grant accounting to accurately report on the status of each grant
● Prepare quarterly reports for each grant and contract for grants meetings
● Review payroll and expenditures to ensure that expenses are correctly allocated to the assigned grants and contracts
● Prepare expenditure reports for the funders in accordance with the required timing dictated by the funder and provide any necessary supporting documentation
● Monitor grant reporting deadlines for all contracts and grants; meet expenditure report deadlines
● Follow-up on payment status of invoices as needed
● Assist the CFO in preparing the annual organizational budget
● Prepare schedules and documentation for financial audits and complete Form 990
● Assist CFO with monitoring cash flow; report on cash status weekly
● Assist with grant and contract budget proposals
● Monitor the agency's grant vouchering system to ensure that grant funds are coming in accordance with the grant/contract agreements
● Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
● Serve as a backup to the CFO
● Performs other related duties as assigned
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:*
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
● At least five years of related work experience
● Proficiency in QuickBooks Online accounting software
● Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills
● Demonstrated proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office Suite
● Knowledge of grant process and reporting
*DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:*
● Experience working in a social service environment and familiarity with not-for-profit accounting and best practices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.
00 - $85,000.
