General Summary
The Accounts Receivable Specialist will work closely with the CFO, Corporate Accounting Manager, and other corporate and community team members in performing successful and timely completion of accounts receivable functions within UMRH policies, state and federal regulations, and the goals of the Corporate Office.
The responsibilities include fulfilling all aspects of skilled nursing facility billing and collections for all UMRH, Inc.
communities.
These efforts involve receivables from private pay, Medicare, HMO, Medicaid, and all other insurers.
Principle Duties
Audit resident account balances, assess accuracy and collectability of balances, and initiate appropriate collection actions.
Actively collect on Medicare and Medicaid claims, including the correction or adjustment of claims in the Ability Network, FISS, and NC Tracks systems.
Review accuracy of insurance verifications and setup in software, ensuring proper payers will be billed accurately and timely.
Generate and complete monthly billing, including private pay statements, Medicare, Medicaid, and all other payers.
Follow-up on all submitted claims, including the review, resolution, and correction of payment rejections for all payers.
Follow-up on all past due private pay accounts, including phone calls and collection letters, according to company policy and procedures.
Maintain daily collection documentation detail in software.
Perform other billing and collection work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Skilled Nursing Facility billing and collection experience, including Medicare A, Medicare B, HMO, MSP, and coinsurance.
A minimum three years of experience is preferred.
Ability to create and maintain strong team relationships through written and oral communications.
Impeccable organizational skills, including the ability to quickly and properly prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a self-motivated manner.
Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word user.
Preferred experience with Advanced Answers On Demand/ Matrixcare software, or similar application.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently.
