Reports To: Property Controller
General Purpose: The Accounting Coordinator ensures the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of daily financial reporting activities.
Supports the Controller in accounting related tasks, completes the income audit process, prepares the daily bank deposits and participate in the month-end closing process.
Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
Monitor hotel revenues to ensure accurate recording and report variances to accounting management.
Monitor and audit internal financial controls associated with the income stream (cash handling, revenue posting, package handling, adjustment posting), records retention and storage.
Monitor and/or prepare financial reports in accordance with 21c requirements meeting various due dates:
Daily: Cash Report, Income Journal, Revenue Report
Monthly: TA Processing
Monthly: Inventory Counts & Extensions, Key Statistical Reports
Participate in the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and bank statements in accordance with 21c Museum Hotels standards.
Assist Controller in training, supervising and developing accounting associates and team members in other departments.
Review and develop an understanding of all Accounting policies and procedures, as well as the internal audit; assist the Controller in monitoring their enforcement.
Continually increase involvement in the month end Financial Statement closing and preparation including JE posting and checkbook review.
Attend and contribute to periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among associates, productivity and efficiency.
Examples of these meetings are: Daily Standup, BEO Review Meetings, Departmental, Credit and Collection, monthly internal financial reviews.
Ensures consistent communication with the appropriate managers and staff members to minimize negative transactions and maximize revenues.
Ensure complete and appropriate back-up documentation and maintained all guest accounting transactions.
Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in finding and implementing their solutions.
Prepare daily bank deposits.
Issue daily cash reports.
Track and follow up on all discrepancies.
Perform monthly audits of all house banks.
Produce the hotel daily labor report
Special projects as directed.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Advanced competency in computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to represent 21c Museum Hotels with a high level of integrity and professionalism, adhere to 21c Museum Hotels policies and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays when necessary.
Must pass a background check.
Education and Experience:
A two-year college degree and at least two (2) years of related progressive experience; or High School Diploma and at least four (4) years of progressive experience in hotel accounting or related field.
