The Executive Staff team member will provide critical, high-level project support for initiatives identified by the CEO of Self-Help, as well as other organizational leaders.
The Executive Staff member will work in a social justice, activist organization on projects that involve complex business, financial, and operational issues.
Essential Responsibilities: Support and manage special projects designed and directed by the CEO and deemed critical to advancing organizational priorities.
Examples of potential projects include: Forecasting financials for a business unit Assisting in the regulatory approval and operational integration of a credit union merger Planning senior leadership retreat(s) Preparing a business plan for a new venture Managing implementation of a new organization-wide IT initiative Drafting policies and procedures for organizational operations Providing analytical support on major financial and operational decisions for a team Developing a plan for Self-Help entry/support of new social justice initiatives Work with Self-Help senior managers to organize and mobilize organizational resources around new initiatives for Self-Help to pursue.
Track and help prioritize activities within Self-Help that require the CEO’s attention Support the organization’s relationships with key collaborators, elected officials, regulators, and the media.
Prepare for and brief appropriate individuals prior to events regarding important developments and follow-up on resulting action items.
Act as a change agent to drive Self-Help’s economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity and the use of businesses owned by women and people of color in third party contracting and vendor management for relevant products and services.
Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.
Credentials, Experience and skills: Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years related professional experience in finance, banking, community development, management consulting, business management, or social justice Master’s degree in urban planning, public policy, business administration, law, or related field preferred.
In depth knowledge of financial analysis and analytical aptitude.
Strong Project management ability/skills.
Demonstrate Self-Help's corporate competencies: Mission and Values Standards of Excellence Teamwork and Collaboration Initiative and Follow-Through Customer Focus Communication Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills – demonstrated ability to work effectively in varied professional, socio-economic, and cultural contexts.
Highly resourceful self-starter and fast learner.
Ability to initiate and juggle multiple projects and work independently to meet goals, objectives, and deadlines.
Effective in working behind the scenes.
Adept at using influence without authority.
Sensitivity to issues of low-wealth borrowers and communities, and a desire to work in a racially and socially diverse organization.
Excellent listening skills.
Sincere commitment to teamwork and an interest in the development of colleagues, both important Self-Help values.
Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required; data analysis and mapping skills Willingness to work hours reflective of a CEO-level position and travel approximately 10% although may be higher at times due to the nature of assigned projects.
