Description of Work
This position #60071016 is located at Johnston Correctional Institution in Smithfield, NC.
The position manages the inmate trust fund account.
Duties include the preparation of daily deposits, checks for canteen payments, postage and welfare purchases, opening and closing Inmate and employees accounts, transferring funds to other facilities, inmate special draws and money orders.
This position ensures that trust funds is in balance on a daily basis, and that all funds are managed in accordance with DPD Policy and Procedures.
Daily, weekly, and monthly reports are generated for the trust fund operations.
This position will respond to inquires from inmates, staff and family members regarding trust fund issues, responses are both verbal and written.
This position is required to make daily trips to the bank for deposits, purchasing of debit cards and other needed transactions to meet the needs of the facility.
This position is the back-up to the general Accounting Clerk I position and is cross trained for those duties.
This position may also provide assistance with the mailroom duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
Documented Experience in accounting procedures, mathematics on the job application in the work environment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
