The Director, Tax Operations is a senior leader, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.
This hands-on role is responsible for the tax provision, domestic tax compliance, tax audits, supporting and leading tax analysis of various strategic planning and business initiatives.
The ideal candidate should have a commercial mindset and extensive experience with domestic compliance and tax audits, and tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740.
Location: Preferred location is Raleigh, NC but open to considering other locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage all aspects of monthly financial reporting for income taxes including effective external auditor relationship management
• Provide forecasts and insight critical to Company decision-making, including effective tax rate and tax payment forecasts
• Lead and oversee all aspects of the US federal, state and local income and indirect tax returns, property tax filings, and related domestic audits
• Lead analysis of the impact of special tax projects and tax planning initiatives, business changes, M&A transactions, proposed and enacted tax law, and preparing relevant materials and presenting to Company leadership
• Influence and effectively collaborate with key cross-functional partners and leadership in Accounting, Finance, Legal and Business teams to drive tax efficient outcomes of operations and key business and tax initiatives
• Assist with design, implementation, and documentation of all tax-related controls
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8-12 years in relevant tax roles including experience at a public accounting firm
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or BS or BA Degree in a relevant field
• CPA required
• ASC 740 experience, internal controls, domestic tax compliance and audits as well as familiarity with purchase accounting and business integration
• Strong communication skills conveying tax concepts to non-tax professionals and the ability to effectively execute on complex, cross-functional business and tax initiatives
• A high level of executive presence and business acumen, with a keen commercial focus
• The ability to meet tight deadlines and remain flexible in a fast-paced, growth company environment
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal, technical communication and presentation skills
