The College faculty is engaged in cutting-edge scholarship and research in the context of professional programs nurturing a design culture with global influence.
As a result of the new strategic plan adopted, the College is expected to grow its research and sponsored activities.
Thus, the Office of Research, Extension and Engagement is positioned to oversee and enhance the research program and overall scholarly efforts within the College of Design.
The management of research and sponsored activities in the College is centralized in the Office of Research, Extension and Engagement.
This office primarily focuses on the facilitation of sponsored research and scholarly activities with faculty; organization of seminars and workshops on grant writing and publishing; review and assistance with research and service agreements and activities; facilitation of faculty development program including the dissemination of the Faculty Research and Professional Development seed funds (FRPD); the proposal development ensuring financial compliance and management, as well as the management of the post award activities.
The Office of Research, Extension and Engagement is the main contact and liaison between the faculty and the university’s central offices for research administration including the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED) and the Office of Contracts and Grants.
Essential Job Duties The Post-Award Manager position is responsible for all post-award management of sponsored projects including internally and externally funded awards.
The Post-Award Manager will be responsible for monitoring and performing the tasks required for each project beginning with the time the award has been fully executed until the award has been financially closed in the Wolfpack Reporting System.
The person in this position will work under the supervision of the Director of Research Administration and Pre-Award to ensure effective collaboration between the pre-and post-award roles and responsibilities.
This position will have college-level Contract and Grant oversight of the budgetary and financial activities as they are forwarded to the college Budget Director to ensure that budgets are accurate and all payment obligations are met in a timely manner.
Periodic account reviews and reconciliations are also required.
The person in this position will work closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs) and act as a liaison between the Office of Contracts and Grants and the College Budget Office on behalf of the PI.
The daily and periodic responsibilities of the Post-Award Manager include but are not limited to the following: Review all terms and conditions for all sponsored awards and grants and note any special requirements; Attend new award meetings with the university, college, and project lead as requested; Meet regularly with PIs to review award portfolios and create spending projections; Review and process all expenditure requests by payment vouchers, p-card expenditures, etc.
; Reconcile project accounts each month; Serve as the P-Card reconciler for p-cardholders who charge to grant accounts; Ensure that all setups are made for release time, summer salary, and cost share; Assist with travel authorization inquiries on sponsored projects; Review all HR actions for employees who are being charged to grant accounts; Prepare PMR’s to request changes to awards (e.
g.
rebudgets, subcontract requests, no-cost extensions); Coordinate with PI, College Research Office, and Office of Contracts & Grants on the preparation of financial reports to project sponsor; Prepare the final reconciliations and closeouts for each award; Attend Design Research Office meetings as requested; Serve as backup for Pre-award activities; Assist with faculty training sessions on award management as requested.
Other Responsibilities Attend training offered by NCSU; Attend RSC meetings; Continue education in order to keep working knowledge up to date; Special projects as assigned by the supervisor; Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications Three years of post-award experience in the administration of sponsored awards; Knowledge of the University and State financial processes; PeopleSoft financial experience and knowledge of PeopleSoft actions; Experience/knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards, Uniform Guidance, and ledger 5.
