About the Department
Foundations Accounting and Investments (FAI), under the direction of the University Treasurer, is responsible for providing investment, financial reporting, budgeting, accounting, & corporate governance oversight for seven (7) University-related foundations, the NC State Investment Fund, Inc.
including the NC State Intermediate Term Fund under its umbrella, the Endowment Fund of NC State University, the Alumni Association, the NC State Partnership Corp.
and its nine (9) active LLC’s, and an Execution Education, LLC.
Each of these entities provides substantial resources in support of the University through its various colleges.
As of June 30, 2023, these responsibilities included approximately 13,000 funds with a combined market value in excess of $2.
4 Billion.
Essential Job Duties This position serves as the lead accountant for reviewing and recording campus fund transfer requests, reviewing and approving campus IDTs and journals, updating the financial systems for activity involving gifts-in-kind, real estate owned, and other assets.
Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Reviewing and approving the Lonnie Poole Golf Course daily activity and weekly cash analysis as well as assisting with month-end close operations.
This position serves as the primary person responsible for year-end journal entries and audit reconciliations for the many entities serviced by FAI.
Prepare complex accounting entries for the opening/closing, quarterly investment activity and annual liability adjustments for planned gift accounts.
Serve as the primary reviewer for weekly payment requests and preparer for annual IRS form 1099 reporting.
This position serves as the primary reviewer for gift and other income clearing account reconciliations.
This position serves as the back-up reviewer for bank reconciliations for all entities served by FAI.
Other Responsibilities Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Required Qualifications Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including word processing and spreadsheet skills.
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment Familiar with accounting and budget principles within higher education Ability to work in a fast-paced and high volume environment Excellent Customer service skills Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with FASB and fund accounting.
Experience in operational environment.
