Southern Energy Management (SEM) is currently seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist to support our Administrative Department known as Core Services.
This position serves as a critical link within all of our business lines, and is knowledgeable about AR, AP, Job Costing, and the General Ledger.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the ability to switch roles to meet multiple deadlines.
Accountabilities:
Accounts Payable and vendor records maintenance, including timely invoice entry and payment processing, Expense Reimbursements, COI and W9 maintenance, online payment portal management, Sales and Use tax maintenance and reporting, and annual 1099 preparation.
AR invoicing, AR collections follow up, processing and application of payments.
Manage, review and process business credit card statements;
Manage and process daily deposit of checks; applying payments and updating related software systems.
Balance sheet account reconciliations including but not limited to bank, fixed assets, depreciation, and AP related liability accounts.
Assist with overhead annual budget process
Maintain digital filing for all AR/AP records/documentation
Essential Experience, Technical Skills and Competencies
3-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction environment
Demonstrated ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize information to create accurate reports and schedules
Strong organizational, analytical skills, high degree of focus and attention to detail
Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and conduct work independently
Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and resourcefulness in solving problems
