This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

This is a full-time, temporary Accounts Payable position within the Budget and Finance Office of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
This position will report to the employee in the Accounting Tech III position.
This position’s primary responsibility is to process direct and matching invoices, travel reimbursements, grants, contracts, and lease invoices for payment; Keys invoices into the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) using the correct accounting codes; Verifies appropriate paperwork and signatures are included; Approves e-procurement requests for accounting codes; Audits invoices; Responds to vendor and departmental staff inquiries regarding payable status; Works closely with vendors and procurement staff to research/resolve invoice discrepancies; Maintains adequate files and documentation for audit and reporting purposes; Determines invoices which should be flagged in NCFS as an accrual; Properly identifies and flags invoices for 1099 tax forms.

Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to analyze work situations and interpret program content in making decisions and explaining policies, regulations and programs.

Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
