This is an Accounting Technician II position located in the Payment Audit of the Accounts Payable Section.
The position will manage the process for vendor enablement and purchasing invoices for the Ariba purchasing system.
Contacting vendors to sign up for the purchasing system and researching vendor history.
This includes using email and phone contacts.
Working with the field users and DOT Purchasing Unit to identify users and assist with questions on contacts.
Monitoring rejecting items and correcting invoices that have errors.
Elevating complex issues to management and identifying issues that require assistance from EBS support.
Answering questions from vendors and other DOT personnel regarding Ariba invoicing,
Reports include reviewing problems and looking for errors, identifying vendors that need to be contacted for setup as an enterprise or standard account, failed invoices, upload errors, outstanding invoices not paid, and errors that may be causing invoice problems.
Special projects as assigned by management to assist with AP and Payment Audit issues.
Items can include vendor enhancements and invoice upgrades in Ariba and Production.
Backup for the approval of invoices in Payment Audit.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Experience in interpreting and applying Federal and state fiscal regulations.
Skill in analyzing and correcting financial problems and bookkeeping errors.
Working experience in establishing effective working relationships with the public or departmental program personnel.
Knowledge of governmental accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices.
Experience using Microsoft word and excel.

Associates degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of accounting experience; or High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
