The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grad public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for Auditor II to join the Monitoring and Compliance Section.
The Monitoring and Compliance Section is composed of Auditors and Finance and Business Compliance Analysts who communicate legislation, financial information and policy to LEAs, charter schools, and regional/lab schools to maximize the effective and efficient implementation of legislated mandates in accordance with accounting standards, legislation, grant awards, and State Board of Education policy.
The section evaluates the fiscal operations of public school units by monitoring compliance and providing financial oversight of federal and state grant programs administered by NCDPI to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations identified in the Uniform Guidance, North Carolina General Statutes, internal policies and procedures, and other program-specific guidance.
This position assists Local Education Agencies (LEAs), charter schools, regional/lab schools and nongovernmental organizations receiving state and/or federal assistance funds establish and maintain compliance by providing expert technical assistance and oversight.
The position serves as an agency liaison for internal and external entities to ensure compliance with federal and state compliance requirements and regulations.
Job Specific Responsibilities: Serve as the lead coordinator of the audit resolution function for all Local Education Agencies (LEAs), charter schools, regional/lab schools and nongovernmental organizations receiving state and/or federal assistance funds administered by DPI.
Perform financial monitoring reviews of these entities through examination and analysis of fiscal records and reports to ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance, State laws, and Federal legislation.
Monitor these entities for compliance with various other federal and state legislation.
Coordinate the agency's annual audit compliance supplements for federal, state, and cross-cutting compliance requirements.
Serve as an agency liaison for internal and external parties and communicate legislation, policy, compliance requirements and best practices to maximize the effective and efficient implementation of legislated mandates in accordance with GAAP, GASB, the Uniform Guidance and State Board of Education policy.
Additional duties as assigned.
This position is located in Raleigh, North Carolina (Wake County).
Some travel periodically is possible, approximately 10%.
