The Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the State's Public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.
The State Board of Education has the constitutional authority to lead and uphold the system of public education in North Carolina.
The Office of Agency Financial Services performs all state-level financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and accounting services for the Department of Public Instruction.
It performs program analyses and internal services and monitoring for the Department and is responsible for supporting the financial and personnel systems.
There are five primary work groups in this division – Budget Management, Accounting Controls and Reporting, Cash Management, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing and Contract Services.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for an Accountant II (Working Title: Grants Accountant) position within the Agency Financial Service Division This is a time limited position until September 30, 2024.
Process federal drawdown requests on multiple federal payment platforms.
Analyze and reconcile federal grants on a continual basis.
Analyze, reconcile, and complete reporting on Cash Management Improvement Act (CMIA) grants.
Provide support to program managers and other Financial and Business Services staff related to charges made on the grant and drawdown information.
Provide timely documentation to Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM), Office of State Auditor (OSA), and Office of the State Controller (OSC).
Additional duties ad assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance or public administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting coursework; and two years of accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting/ financial statements; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
