This is an Accounting Technician II position located in the Accounts Payable Unit.
Primary job duties of this position include auditing and approval of contracts and grants, vendor setup and maintenance of suppliers, and other projects as needed.
The positions duties involve frequent contact with internal and external customers and NCDOT field personnel to ensure vendors, contracts and invoices are setup and paid out following Internal Revenue Service guidelines.
The position requires flexibility to work multiple job duties, communicate well with internal and external customers (written and verbally) and other projects assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
Experience with general accounting principles, processes, and procedures.
Experience reviewing work of others and implementing financial policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Experience creating reports in an accounting software program.
Experience troubleshooting and resolving accounting related issues through effective communication.

Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of accounting experience; or High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
