Description of Work
This Internal Auditor I performs audit services such as compliance, financial, information systems, and performance engagements for the NC Department of Public Safety.
The position reports directly to the Central Operations Audit Supervisor and provides thorough evaluation and effective analysis of audit assignments, including reporting, communicating, and executing assignments in an efficient manner.
Responsibilities include: Conducting Compliance Audits, Financial Audits, Performance Audits, and Special Reviews Application and interpretation of statutes, policy, procedures, and departmental operations Verifying transactions and processes to confirm the truth, accuracy, and validity of information Reviewing and evaluating information and developing working papers to support audit findings Clearly outlining findings and conclusions for management reports Providing information that helps with developing policies and procedures Making recommendations based on hard evidence Reviewing supporting documentation for audit findings, determining materiality of exceptions and potential impact of findings with regard to compliance with federal/state regulations and management directives Preparing all work papers, correspondence, etc.
, in accordance with the applicable auditing standards/procedures and internal Standard Operating Procedures Providing accurate, complete and timely reporting of all findings/results from audit Preparing the appropriate financial statements and any other pertinent/analytical data that is to be reflected in the audit report Complying with established staff time reports/budgets applicable to the audit/special review by ensuring accurate and timely completion of audit assignments Clearly outlining findings and conclusions for management reports Communicating results of audit work to agency management via oral and written reports/presentations Reviewing final drafts for team to assist with accurate reporting Presenting oral presentations as requested to update regional managers on risks/findings and audit activities This position uses laptop computers on a daily basis and performs administrative duties as needed to maintain efficient operations of Internal Audit.
This position is expected to become knowledgeable of and comply with DPS Internal Audit Standard Operating Procedures.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
The work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 7:30am -6pm.
Some overnight travel may be required.
This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of a State Teleworking Program.
Any telework will be under the conditions of the State Teleworking Program Policy, and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time at the employer’s sole discretion.
Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC12.
State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.
If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
