Description of Work
SALARY GRADE: Grade 12
This position is temporary, full-time and will end on June 30, 2024.
The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC), Fiscal Services Division, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an Accounting Specialist I to process accounts payables for budget codes such as general funds, indigent funds, and special grants.
Primary responsibility to audit travel reimbursements.
Types of payables include purchase orders, various direct and matching pays, contractual services, and miscellaneous vendor expenditures for the Judicial Branch.
This position reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor.
Work hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Knowledge of: general accepted accounting principles and bookkeeping practices; North Carolina State Accounting System and Chart of Accounts; computer application software; vendor contract requirements; and NC General Statutes that govern expenditure processing.
Skills in: operating computers, calculators, and other office machinery.
Ability to: perform routine mathematical computations; understand, interpret, and implement administrative and fiscal guidelines and procedures; troubleshoot and resolve procedural problems; communicate effectively with vendors and court personnel; and work independently.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of accounting experience.
Management prefers candidates with North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) experience.
