This position reports to the Administrative Officer III at the healthcare complex of a multi-custody male correctional facility.
This position primarily maintains and oversees financial accounting data, including technical accounting work, such as independent responsibility for maintaining accounting records and/or separate accounts payable functions.
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Analyzing data for accuracy, to problem solve, and interpret regulations.
Serving as specialist in an area requiring fiscal knowledge.
Working in various areas affecting the fiscal and financial operations of the respective work unit and/or involvement in the budget process.
Being accountable for accuracy of entries and reconciliation of data and information.
Dealing frequently with facility staff to include management, medical/ dental regarding purchase orders and/or P-card purchases.
Being able to communicate well and work well with staff at all levels.
Involving work with budget monitoring, budget reports, and usage orders for supplies.
Being able to work independently and meet constant deadlines while performing several tasks simultaneously.
Being responsible for Monthly Safe-keeper Report.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.
Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC07 (Salary Range: $34,936 - $61,137).
State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.
If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

We have a mission that matters! About Central Prison Healthcare Complex (CPHC): Central Prison Healthcare Complex (CPHC) is located on the campus of Central Prison in Raleigh, NC.
Central Prison itself serves as the admission point into prison for adult male felons sentenced to 20 years or more and houses special populations, including death row and safe keepers.
The primary purpose of CPHC is to provide inpatient treatment for patients using evidenced-based medical practices, therapy programs, surgical services, post-operative care, etc.
that will enable the offender patients to be returned to their home facility as quickly as possible.
CPHC is the main medical and mental health center for male offenders in the state.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following: Documented knowledge of accounting procedures and/or accounting practices.
Documented experience with accounts payable.
Management Preferences: Prior experience working with purchase orders, P-card purchases and reconciliation.
Internal with DAC/NC State Government.

Associate degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution AND one year of accounting experience; or High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
