Description of Work
***This position currently qualifies for a flexible/hybrid work schedule***
This Accountant II position is in the Financial Reporting Section which is part of the Accounting & Financial Section of the DHHS Office of the Controller.
This position is responsible for month-end and year-end closing, reconciliation, and financial reporting for multiple divisions in the DHHS.
This includes researching discrepancies and collaborating with the Cash Management Section and other departments to make needed corrections.
Other responsibilities include reconciling disbursing accounts, reconciling and clearing special accounts (payroll, and health benefits suspense), bank reconciliations and cash projections.
Additional job responsibilites include the following: * NCFS Activities - To record all financial transactions into the State's Accounting System; including but not limited to; entering journal entries, reconciling accounts, all transfers and requisitions initiated through NCFS, and all federal funds receipts and transfers.
*Month End Closing - To record all transactions properly in NCFS in order to release accurate financial data; including reviewing necessary Month End and Budgetary reports to ensure all accounts and budget codes are balanced.
* Bank Reconciliations - To reconcile and balance the bank accounts for each division to ensure cash is expended properly.
*Year End Close/ACFR/DHHS Financial Statements-To ensure each Division produces accurate and reliable financial statements.
This includes completing all activities as required by OSC guidelines in order to prepare and complete all applicable footnotes.
This position will also assist in promptly responding to audit requests as well as audit findings, as they are issued.
