Salary Grade: NC14 Salary Range - $49,158 to $86,026
Hiring Range: $49,158 to $68,753
We are looking for a candidate with an accounting background who will play a significant role on our team.
As a Compliance Reporting Accountant, you will be responsible for:
Produce advanced levels of financial reporting to meet the diverse types of mandated disclosures and requested information required of NCDOT.
Define the Department’s reporting obligations through interactions with internal and external stakeholders and customers, analyzing legislative actions taken from the Federal and State Government, and interacting with areas of NCDOT, NCDOR and Federal DOT, including the annual financial statement audit.
Act as the lead for 1099 IRS processing, including the yearly 1099 run, system updates and changes and constant monitoring of 1099 activity throughout the year.
Staying abreast of new rules and regulations reading reporting requirements.
Communicating with internal and external customers of NCDOT.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Working knowledge of Excel and North Carolina Financial Systems (NCFS) software applications.
Intermediate knowledge of governmental accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices.
Demonstrated ability in managing multiple project tasks to ensure efficient and effective prioritization of work and other duties.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex Federal and State fiscal regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting coursework; and two years of professional accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting.
