Description of Work
The primary purpose of this accounting position is to manage and oversee the various accounting processes, invoicing, collections and reporting for the DAC Comprehensive Health Services Business Office.
This position provides close assistance to the Financial Analyst with the following: 1) planning, organizing and directing the daily functions of the Finance Department, 2) ensuring the DAC Comprehensive Health Services Business Office records are properly stated and transactions are processed in accordance with prescribed policies, procedures and regulations, 3) developing, implementing and monitoring accounting policies and procedures which govern the internal controls and processing for all departments, 4) providing advice, counsel and policy interpretation for department staff and 5) preparing various financial analyses, reports and research.
This position is responsible for analyzing data within the NC Financial System (NCFS).
This position assists in the preparation of various required miscellaneous reports for the DAC CHS Business Office.
This position is responsible for the preparation of cash reports and other reports by applying accounting principles and practices.
This position works independently, applies professional judgment to various situations, makes decision and problem-solving solutions as appropriate, prioritizes work responsibilities and meets deadlines.
This position must have the ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC14.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability and internal equity.
Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC): The Dept.
of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.
This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.
Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor s degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting coursework; and two years of professional accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting.
