*POSITION SUMMARIES*
The *Primary Teacher* is responsible for creating a classroom environment and activities to support the cognitive, physical, and social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care; developing partnerships with each child's parent(s) or guardian(s) to benefit their child and engage and encourage parent participation in the program.
Each Primary Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing and contracting agencies; and working effectively with the assistant teacher and other staff members.
*EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE*
* AA Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development of Equivalent; or BA degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or Equivalent; or bachelor degree in another area plus at least 12 credit hours in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.
A school transcript will be required to verify education.
* 2 years verifiable teaching experience with children age 5 or younger, preferably in a 5 Star licensed program.
*SKILLS & ABILITIES*
* Early Child Development knowledge and experience in group care practices
* Understanding of Developmental Appropriate Practices
* Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills, as well as the ability to maintain an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition
* Ability to use the computer to communicate with families and input developmental data, create lesson plans using the Teaching Strategies program
* Ability to use computer and other resources to develop a NAEYC classroom portfolio
* Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities
* Ability to make sound decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being
* Ability to appropriately manage confidential information.
* Ability to serve as a role model for children and their families.
*Qualifications and Skills*
Minimum AA degree in Early Childhood Education, prefer a BS degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Education or Equivalent
CPR/First Aid certified
Negative TB Test
Current Criminal Record Clearance letter
