North Carolina State University Club JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Summer Tennis Camp Councilor DEPARTMENT: Tennis REPORTS TO: Tennis Director, Jay White Non-Exempt Seasonal Temporary JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: The Tennis Camp Councilor must truly enjoy working with kids and is responsible for the instruction of summer camp tennis activities under the direction of the Director of Tennis.
The Tennis Camp Councilor is responsible for promoting fun, participation and good sportsmanship in the tennis program and enhancing the Tennis experience for all camp attendees, members, and their guests at North Carolina State University Club.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Group supervision of campers with attention to all of the following: program, health, happiness, discipline, cleanliness, safety, routine duties, character and skill development.
Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, table etiquette and relationships with other staff that serve as a beneficial model to campers.
Promotes fun, participation and good sportsmanship to all campers.
Responsible to organize games for campers and fulfill the role of social professional to ensure maximum satisfaction.
Proper teaching relating to the techniques and strategies of tennis to campers, members, and guests.
Group supervision of campers during pool time, assisting the lifeguards by actively watching kids while on the pool deck.
Enforces club tennis policies and procedures with camp attendees.
Must be able to communicate effectively with children, management and staff.
Listens to, then responds to the comments, requests and questions from the campers, members and the staff of the club.
Communicate with the customers and solicit their input (good or bad).
Makes sure that the customer leaves satisfied; settles any disputes while maintaining good customer relations.
Maintains a safe, clean and healthy environment for all the campers, members, guests and staff, ensuring all safety rules are followed.
Responsible for enforcing the rules of club.
Must be proficient in tennis operations, and able to adhere to all policies and procedures of the tennis summer camp in accordance to established standards.
Controls cost by properly maintaining equipment Adhere to the dress code and all of North Carolina State University Club policies.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Tennis Director Reports maintenance, repair, and cleaning issues to the Tennis Director Attends all staff meetings.
Inspects and maintains all physical areas constantly.
Ensures that all club members, campers and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their needs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: preferred H.
S.
Diploma / Equivalent or 2+ years’ experience EXPERIENCE: Must be a competition level player, high school, collegiate or pro series, plus years of Tennis instruction experience preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED: All equipment typically used in a professional Golf operation.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Able to work with little supervision.
Long periods of standing, bending, crouching, reaching & running.
Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
Work in non-temperature controlled environments.
Must be able to work around time requirements required at a private club environment.
High Level of physical endurance needed for this positions working environment.
COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS: Active listening skills and ability to articulate information both verbally and in writing.
Communication skills to effectively develop member/camper / customer relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal speech, hearing, and vision.
SAFETY: Follow all North Carolina University Club safety programs, safety guidelines, policies and procedures.
Wear, use and enforce all NCSUC personal protection equipment (PPE) as needed on specific jobs and tasks.
Beware of chemical safety and be familiar with all pertinent Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of chemicals which are used in the workplace.
Follow all NCSUC safety rules including all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to work at NCSUC.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be committed to work the entire camp season June – September to include some weekends and holidays.
Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously; maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations; Must have reliable transportation, Honesty and absolute confidentiality required.
Must be 16yrs or older.
CERTIFICATE: Certification, First – Aid, CPR & AED certified.
Must have Federal Child abuse clearances CUSTOMERS: External – Contractors, Vendors, Members & Guests Internal – Staff of NCSUC CLIENT CONTACT: Frequent TRAINING: As required by management to perform duties professionally.
