POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the leadership of the program supervisor, coordinator and/or director, the Kid Zone Care Attendant provides direct supervision to a group of children in a childcare setting.
They will help to provide a quality experience to children and parents through our YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
The Kid Zone Care Attendant is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
Job Schedule: Saturdays from 9:00am - 1:00pm, with the possibility of substitute shifts mid-week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises a group of children while leading and participating in program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
Maintains group control at all times and handles all situations sensitively and with a positive attitude.
Ensures the safety and cleanliness of program environment.
Serves as a positive role model and maintains positive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
Attends staff meetings and trainings.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to dress code, medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 16 years old.
Previous child care experience preferred.
Must be professional, courteous and friendly.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Multi-lingual desired but not required.

Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Compliance with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts.
