Challenge Island is hiring fun, smart, enthusiastic instructors to teach an exciting after school science/engineering enrichment program with a distinctly Island flair!
This position is perfect for college or graduate students, retired teachers and stay-at-home moms seeking to supplement income.
Teaching experience IS required.
Challenge Island will train qualified instructors in our unique program and teaching philosophy.
All supplies and lesson plans are provided.
The materials are comprehensive, fun, and exciting.
Classes are held at local elementary schools in Raleigh and Cary area.
*About the Program*: Challenge Island is a one-of-a-kind enrichment program on the cutting edge of STEAM education and 21st Century Learning.
Our goal is to create collaborative learning experiences using a highly engaging curriculum that simultaneously addresses the needs of both the creative, playful child of today and the globally successful adult of the future.
Our high interest curriculum uniquely intertwines STEAM, English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies concepts into one action packed experience for elementary and middle school students.
The Challenge Island curriculum is unique because the students work together in STEAM Teams to complete Challenges that demonstrate one or more STEAM concepts.
The hands-on, project-based learning opportunities made available in Challenge Island ignite curiosity and spark learning by letting the students experiment in real-world situations, even for students who do not think of themselves as “math and science kids.
” While working in their STEAM Teams to solve the challenges, the students apply engineering principles, Understand, Brainstorm, Build, Test, Improve, Retest, Improve Again, and Share.
As a result, the students learn about communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and public speaking.
When kids participate in Challenge Island programs, they are preparing for what lies ahead and ensuring that they will be equipped to handle the problems of the future.
Challenge Island teaching positions are highly selective positions but if you do become a part of our tribal leader team the rewards are enormous!
This is a part-time position - 2 to 7 hours per week.
Candidates must be available from 2 - 4 p.
m.
at least 2 days per week.
Compensation ranges from $50 to $150 per week.
*Requirements:*
\* Must be passionate about educating children and have experience teaching preschool or elementary age children.
\* Must have reliable transportation.
\* Energetic and be able to lift to 15lbs of materials
\* Must live within 15 miles of the following areas: Raleigh and Cary, NC.
\* Must complete Criminal Background Check with the school system.
