*JOB SUMMARY*
Perform food preparation and cooking duties in a Child Development facility.
Responsible for preparing two (2) meals and (1) snack each day at identified Child Development center.
Work includes the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals and participation in the meals with the preschool children to teach them to eat new foods and table etiquette.
Work is performed independently and in accordance with agency policies, Head Start Performance Standards and Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP).
Independent judgment and initiative are required in the performance of duties.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Nutrition Coordinator and the Lead Teacher/Center Supervisor and is evaluated through periodic conferences and observation.
Prepare two meals a day for preschool children, cook meats, vegetables, preparation of fruits and bread using recipes or improvising cooking methods as required.
Maintain inventory of all supplies; keep records of the number of participants served daily; food temperature; refrigerator and freezer temperature; daily cleaning schedule; and the amount of food served daily.
Clean kitchen and appliances to meet sanitation requirements, prepare kitchen for inspection by County, State, and Federal Boards of Health officials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
· Working knowledge of food preparation methods and cooking in quantity lots.
· Working knowledge of food preparation Health and Sanitary Regulations.
· Working knowledge of standard cleaning methods.
· Maintain effective relationships with Pre-School Children, Parents, Center Director, and staff.
· Ability to accurately maintain on-site records and files.

*QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS*
High School diploma and some experience in food preparation in a commercial or institutional kitchen, or equivalent combination of experience.
Serve Safe Certified or willingness to become certified within first 18 months of hire.
Ability to pass Sex Offender Registry check, State and Federal Criminal Records Background Check, and Child Abuse & Neglect State Registry.
