About the job
The Platform Stateful Services team in the Platform Services division is looking for a Sr Associate Software Developer.
This team is responsible for stateful components of the SAS Viya platform, using technologies including Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Consul, and Geode.
As a member of this team you will help to maintain and improve the use of these technologies in our platform, adhere to SLAs and security compliance needs, and develop new solutions for stateful services needed for the platform.
As a Sr Associate Software Developer, you will:
Code per specifications and standards.
Collaborate with teammates to solve problems.
Ensure quality by creating and supporting automated tests with extensive code coverage.
Evolve software architecture to meet changes in requirements.
Scope requirements and estimate effort.
Stay informed of emerging technologies and use them appropriately.
Support internal and external customers.
Write documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field
2+ years of experience as a developer on large software projects
Effective communication and strong problem-solving skills
Familiarity with integration, regression, and unit testing
Familiarity with Agile development practices
Familiarity with a CI/CD environment
Familiarity with developing applications in Kubernetes
Basic understanding of database concepts
Familiar with various cloud environments and concepts
Preferred qualifications:
DevOps and/or SRE experience
Experience using Docker
Experience using Linux
Familiarity with Golang
Familiarity with Azure
Familiarity with using GitHub for source management
Familiarity with using OpenShift
Familiarity with using PostgreSQL
Basic understanding of software security
