The role of the Assistant Administrator is to support the Head of School in daily operations and the Magellan teachers and staff in implementing evidence-based innovative instructional strategies in order to enhance student learning.
Responsibilities include: Administrative: Partner with Head of School to help manage daily operations;serve as Head of School in their absence.
Support teachers in understanding and implementing the NC Teaching Standards, including the Information and Technology Essential Standards; keep teachers apprised of curriculum changes and updates.
Support teachers in their efforts to implement a variety of high-leverage instructional practices.
Assist teachers with interpreting, analyzing and using assessment data to improve student learning.
Attend monthly administrative grade level meetings, grade representative meetings and Board meetings.
Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with all staff and students.
Be visible in classrooms and throughout the building; maintain an open door policy.
Complete regular classroom walkthroughs.
Work with the Head of School to develop monthly staff meeting agendas.
Teach classes as necessary or assigned by the Head of School.
Share the responsibility for serving as LEA at IEP meetings.
Share the responsibility in supporting student behavior & social-emotional needs, including addressing discipline referrals.
Assist teachers in licensure requirements and renewal process.
Assist with hiring, interviewing, and onboarding process.
Conduct observations and formal evaluations.
Coordinate Beginning Teacher Support Plan (BTSP) to nurture and support the professional development of initially licensed teachers.
Support Read to Achieve legislation requirements.
Carry-out budget requests for professional development, instructional support, and school needs.
Support school-wide schedule development process.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Professional Development: Work with grade reps to develop, manage, update and implement the MCS PD Plan.
Research, organize and implement professional development that challenges and meets the needs of MCS teachers and the requirements of the Professional Teaching Standards, including the NC Digital Teaching and Learning Competencies.
Assist and provide coaching in the implementation of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and research-based instructional practices, with special emphasis on extension and enrichment.
Assist teachers and Head of School in CEU record keeping for licensure renewal process MTSS: Provide leadership regarding the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Support, “MTSS.
” (academic and behavioral) Support development and implement data collection system for teachers and support staff Instructional Technology: Work with staff to enhance curriculum with infusion of technology, including selecting and using software that supports their instruction.
Familiarize teachers with new and current technologies applicable to learning and productivity.
Assist and coach teachers in use of digital learning pedagogy and tools.
Collaborate with the school network administrator to complete Digital Teaching and Learning reports and rubric.
Collaborate with teachers to determine technology purchasing needs to be submitted to the network administrator and controller for the annual technology budget.
Work with the network administrator to plan technology agenda items and updates.
Act as liaison with DPI and school level coordinator to ensure compliance as it relates to Technology Legislation, AMTR, TCO, Budget, CIPA and COPPA Compliance, and the State Technology Plan.
Support classroom teachers in keeping abreast of efficient and ethical use and digital citizenship.
Assist in educational account set-up for intervention and assessment.
Provide back-up technical and helpdesk support as needed.
Qualifications Required: NC Teaching Certification required; licensure in administration preferred.
Five or more years of successful teaching experience, with at least two years of leadership experience Strong knowledge of the NCSCOS and curriculum in general Experience in teaching/training adults and designing effective professional development Accomplished in the use and integration of instructional technologies Ability to build and maintain strong positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders Magellan applications for employment are located on our website: www.
