About the Role
The Consulting Database Engineer is responsible for ensuring the authenticity and safety of our user data.
The successful candidate must be able to familiarize themselves with our existing user data quickly and can leverage the latest in AWS technologies to improve upon it.
The ideal candidate has built and maintained databases using AWS’ services and migrated extremely large databases from one store to another.
The primary tasks will be (1) to maintain and enhance our existing global user database and (2) to migrate pieces of our existing database to new data stores after identifying the best service to hold the data.
Responsibilities
Develop innovative strategies and processes for ingesting, transforming, and managing data in bulk
Be able to handle changing priorities for managing and loading data from various global data owners
Manage and monitor various data feeds through the system and handle issues as they arise
Writing queries, functions, and ETL jobs
Schedule and coordinate database jobs, monitor progress and completion of all jobs, and take corrective action as needed
Consult on feature design, implementation, and relevant metrics like reliability, completeness, accuracy, and cost
Perform capacity monitoring, as well as short and long-term capacity planning
Requirements
Have experience with AWS products
Have familiarity with RDS, Redis, Lambda, S3, EC2s
Have experience with programming languages such as Java and Python
Have substantial experience with query languages
Have the ability to guide engineers and other team members on features and best practices
Have documentation skills for processes and procedures
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
