The NC Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC), Technology Services Division (TSD), seeks a qualified Windows Server Administrator to assist with management, administration, and maintenance of NCAOC Virtualized Server environment.
This position provides 24x7x365 operational support for 30,000+ Judicial and non-Judicial branch users across the state.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Windows Server Administration
Manage operation, health, and security of a Virtual Server environment.
Research Vulnerability Notices when received and work with affected areas for patch or workaround deployment.
Assist with management and maintenance of physical datacenter infrastructure.
Respond to Monitoring System Alerts.
Active Directory User Administration
Manage Users and Groups.
Provide Users access to requested resources.
Helpdesk Ticket Triage
Review Helpdesk Tickets and resolve if possible.
Route tickets to designated engineers if not able to personally resolve.
Follow up with users on aged tickets to verify they are still valid requests.
General Administration
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance benchmarking.
Provide support for issues ranging from single-user issues to system-wide problems.
Assist with periodic testing of disaster preparedness for the NC Judicial Center Data Center.
And other assigned duties.
The person in this position reports to the Distributed Computing Manager.
Work hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday plus on-call responsibilities as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Knowledge of:
windows server operating systems, physical server infrastructure, virtual servers, virtualization technologies, and infrastructure support tools.
Skills in:
managing, supporting, and monitoring server hardware, operating systems, and software in a primarily Windows-based environment.
Ability to:
manage and monitor windows servers in a virtualized environment; Assure existing systems are functioning properly and processing effectively according to the objectives; Troubleshoot common server issues with servers and software in a primarily Windows-based environment; Perform administration tasks in Active Directory.
Assist faculty and management staff in the analysis of vulnerability alert management.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science or another related information technology field and four (4) years of IT related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management recommends that candidates have at least three (3) years of directly related experience in Windows Server Management three (3) years of directly related experience to Physical Server Management.
Management prefers candidates with:
experience with PowerShell tool scripting.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
Experience with Microsoft Print Server technology.
Physical server management experience with CISCO UCS Servers.
Any Enterprise Storage platform experience… EMC a plus
Cloud services management experience, preferably Azure and AWS.
knowledge of common security standards such as PCI, FERPA, and NIST.
familiarity with NC Statewide security standards.
Microsoft certifications are a plus.
AWS certifications are a plus
