*This position supports public water system viability through the review of engineering designs, reports, plans and specifications, calculations and other supporting information submitted for approval and authorization to construct public water system supply, treatment, storage and distribution facilities.
Key Responsibilities: Review engineering designs, reports, plans and specifications, calculations and other supporting information submitted for approval and authorization to construct public water system supply, treatment, storage and distribution facilities.
Evaluate documentation for compliance with federal/state rules and regulations.
Review of Water System Management Plans to ensure capacity development requirements are met.
Prepare approval documents.
Provide effective and timely technical assistance based on thorough knowledge of drinking water rules and of regulations and engineering principles and practices.
The Division of Water Resources: The Division of Water Resources is responsible for protecting North Carolina’s drinking, surface and groundwater for all waterbodies including lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands and aquifers.
This environmental stewardship is accomplished through actions including permitting issuance, investigations, regulatory compliance and enforcement, monitoring and field assessments, certifications, laboratory analysis and testing, planning, water quality standards management, educational outreach and other efforts.
The Division comprises six Sections: Water Quality Regional Operations; Water Sciences; Public Water Supply; Water Quality Permitting; Groundwater Resources, and Water Planning.

Demonstrated experience evaluating engineering drawings or specifications for compliance.
Demonstrated experience in collaborating with municipal or local governments, utilities, or consulting engineers on water infrastructure projects.
