This position is responsible for transporti ngpassengers over specifieddistant points according to a set time schedu le.
Duties involve theability to operate the assigned vehicle in a safe, reliable, andprofessional manner while being courteous, patient, and he lpfulto allpassengers.
Work Performed
Skills and know ledge of how to operate in a transit systems andcoordination with team m embers daily.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Abides by allsafety and traffic regulations/laws as well as companypolicy/procedu res; properly completes all required paperwork to includemanifests, pre/ post-inspection checks, accident reports, and otherapplicable forms/repo rts.
Uses sound judgment infollowing dispatchinstructions, beingable t orecognize, create, and follow logicalsequences for pick- up and drop- o ff of passengers inan efficientmanner.
Attends training classes with su ccessful completion; answerspassenger questions politely and accurately,to include questions aboutservice area, eligibility requirements, and fa res; ensures passengers'ride is comfortable and safe; provides assistanc eto individuals asneeded; knows and abides by all federal transit requir ements; keepscurrent on the operation of all service routes; safely oper ates transitvehicles to pick up and transport customers while adheringto transitvehicle route schedule and maintaining a pleasant and courteousma nnercompletes familiarization with system and safety features; geography androadways of an assigned route and of the entire service area; traffi crules, regulations and laws, and transfer points;receives and transmit stwo-way radio messagesinvolving accidents, incidents, emergencies,crimi nal activities,or other authorized Duke University businessutilizingjudg ment and discretion to ensure customer and individualsafety.
Performs ve hicle operations at varying hours of day and night.
Will work outsideregu lar business hours as required by service demands;writes reports and completes forms as required, may prepare detailedwritten reports concerning accidents incidents, breakdowns andmechanical defects, as requiredat th e end of their shiftPerforms other duties as required by department on t he position
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
AT LEAST ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE OPERATING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES/HEAVY TRUCKS OR OTHER HEAVY VEHICLES AND VALID NC CLASS B DRIVERSLICENSE WITH AIR BRAKE AND PASSENGER ENDORSEMENT, OPERATES BUS TO TRANSPORT STUDENTS, EMPLOYEES, PATIENTS AND VISTORS.
