*JOB SUMMARY*
Perform manual work involving the cleaning and minor maintenance of an assigned area.
Perform a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of Head Start Centers, Headquarters Building and public areas of buildings.
Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, lawn maintenance, operating heavy cleaning equipment, and delivering large quantities of groceries and housekeeping supplies.
Work may also include driving a small van or truck to pick up and deliver in-kind merchandise, groceries, or supplies.
Work is performed under supervision, guided by a daily schedule for general assignments and specific instructions for special assignments.
Work is reviewed through inspections and frequent consultation with supervisory personnel.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
* Sweep, mop, and vacuum floor surfaces
* Clean restroom areas and replenish paper supplies and soap as necessary
* Clean windows, walls, woodwork, and light fixtures
* Drive small van or truck to pick up and deliver in-kind merchandise, groceries, and supplies
* Empty trash receptacles
* Move furniture upon assignment
* Make minor repairs and replace light bulbs and fluorescent light tubes
* Knowledge of cleaning procedures
* Ability to follow instructions
* Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work
* Perform other duties as assigned
*WORK ENVIRONMENT*

*PHYSICAL DEMANDS*
* Ability to lift, manipulate, and move objects weighing 50 pounds or more from one place to another
* Ability to lift objects from the floor to 18” inches above the shoulder
* Vision sufficiently correctable to permit full performance of all job duties
* Ability to drive or provide transportation for required travel in specified county, counties, or service area
* Wide range of mobility, including walking, running, climbing (step stool), sitting, stooping, bending, and carrying, necessary to perform job related activities, and possible evacuation in emergencies
*QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS*
Minimum of High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
Also, any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Must be able to communicate orally and written.
Must possess a valid operator’s license as issued by the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
Must be able to pass Sex Offender Registry check, State and Federal Criminal Records Background check, and Child Abuse & Neglect State Registry.
