Description:
Pay starts at $20/hr (up to $22/hr, based on CDL status)
Shifts start at 3 or 6 am and end 9-10 hours later.
Our drivers love getting their work done while the city sleeps.
This schedule means you get in and out faster without having to fight with other drivers on the road.
You get done early enough to get other things done before businesses close or school ends for the day.
Service 15-30 commercial accounts in the local area.
Accounts include grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, universities, office parks, or similar.
Collect 35- and 64- gallon roll carts containing food waste.
You’ll leave a clean, empty cart behind for each container you collect - and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
At the end of your route, return to the CompostNow warehouse to unload your truck.
Other duties include pre- and post-trip checks, weighing carts, recording cart weights, taking service notes, and maintaining a clean, tidy vehicle.
It is required that all employees operate vehicles in accordance with CompostNow Safety Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
Requirements
- Experience with 26 ft box trucks (or similarly sized commercial vehicle) required
- Pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and criminal background check (DOT card required to fill position)
- Clean driving record and comfortable maneuvering large vehicle, even in tight downtown areas
- Early riser, route starts at 3 or 6 am
- Availability to work an occasional, rotating Saturday shift (about once a month)
- Desire for a physically active working environment (getting out of the truck at each stop, maneuvering and loading + unloading heavy roll carts)
- Responsible individual, comfortable working with relative autonomy and minimal oversight
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all elements (rain, heat, cold, etc.
)
- Committed to communicating regularly and constructively with team members
