Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a Hybrid Telework workweek
POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides coaching and designs and implements professional learning in order to improve district and school-based professional learning systems focused on building leadership and instructional capacity in teachers, administrators, central services staff, and paraprofessionals based upon key district initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
Extensive knowledge of best practices to influence adult learning and instructional practices;
Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
Effective time management and organizational skills;
Ability to design and deliver professional learning to adults;
Ability to model and utilize coaching to support others with professional learning;
Ability to evaluate trainings and professional learning to ensure topics and information are being implemented;
Ability to adapt to digital tools and resources;
Ability to implement creative problem-solving solutions;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form, using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, support staff, and other key stakeholders.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
Five years of Kindergarten-12 teaching experience;
Demonstrated success teaching and training adults; experience in coaching adults;
Experience facilitating and coaching individuals and teams;
Experience in planning and delivering professional learning.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license;
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
Experience with school-based coaching.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports a program of relevant, meaningful, professional learning experiences that meet the individual needs of employees; contributes to the content development and instructional design of professional learning experiences.
Coordinates and contributes to the development of WCPSS sponsored professional learning events.
Establishes a positive learning environment in all professional learning opportunities where participants actively participate.
Provides coaching and support at the district and school levels pertaining to the development of high- quality and effective professional learning.
Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of training delivered and its effects on the instructional process, student achievement, and system goals.
Ensures that professional learning programs are implemented with fidelity and contain accurate content, relevant information, and consistent messages.
Works collaboratively with other departments, agencies, and programs within and outside of the district to support initiatives and training opportunities.
Delivers virtual and face-to-face learning experiences to employees.
Creates tools, resources, and activities that enhance continuous improvement training programs.
Serves on appropriate committees charged with developing and improving professional growth opportunities and practices.
Participates in activities to continue their own professional growth, including activities that supports and promotes system goals.
Recommends materials to support professional development opportunities.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers.
The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members.
Work is considered medium physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.
The work requires driving automotive equipment.
