Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The University College is designed to provide consistent, high-quality and appropriate academic advising, monitoring, mentoring, nurturing and coaching to ensure students’ academic and personal success
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and support to help undergraduate students develop skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to success in college.
The Coordinator of Student Transition and Engagement is responsible for the successful planning, implementation, and evaluation of the transition programs and continued engagement and retention efforts of this student group.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities A strong record of creative problem solving, including strategic thinking and planning, is required.
Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform in a high degree of judgment, diplomacy, and discretion and to make difficult and timely decisions with integrity.
Proficiency with the EAB Navigate platform is desired.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and families to support undergraduate students through difficult and complicated situations.
Experience managing student crises effectively and collaboratively.
Demonstrated success supporting students from historically underrepresented and/or minoritized backgrounds is required.
Skills, knowledge and experience specifically focused on the needs of students of color, first-generation college students, LGBTQ students, international students, students from diverse faith communities is preferred.
Ability to use technology in the delivery of services and case management; agility and familiarity with latest software, database systems, computer literacy.
Strong teamwork and conflict resolution skills.
Minimum Education/Experience For this position a Master’s degree or advanced degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in college administration, event planning, and program development; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience as well as experience at a four-year institution is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties Function Administrative Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Facilitate training on the EAB Navigate platform, train all users, design reports and outputs, efficient data management, and work with vendors to oversee continuous upgrading of capabilities.
Communicate on behalf of the Program Director and/or the Dean with University stakeholders.
Develop, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate a variety of seminars and programs.
Assist in research and development for new program initiatives and take leadership for continual improvements to existing programs.
Oversee all facets of customer service to ensure high quality.
Work with staff to distribute event management for various programs including budget setting and management, planning and production timelines, speaker recruitment and hospitality, registrations, scheduling, provider contracts, on-site management, and event evaluation.
Develop and maintain accurate and confidential records systems to monitor background checks, minors’ training, driving records, biographical data sheets, and personal biographical statements and photos.
Function Administrative Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Share in the unit’s student recruitment activities, including visiting schools and organizations in the state of North Carolina; maintain records of contacts and visit dates; periodically follow up with contacts to maintain cordial relations.
Work with the year-round staff to manage the application process, keeping meticulous records and ensuring that applicant follow-up occurs.
Manage the “back end” of the admissions process, making decisions regarding students’ program admission and students’ course placement; develop and manage office systems to produce weekly statistics, analyze admissions and enrollment trends, and track the payment of deposits and final payments; conduct follow-up activity to secure missing payments.
Assist the Administrative Associate in responding to requests for accommodations under the ADA.

In consultation with Marketing Specialist in developing marketing materials and contracting with designers and printers.
Develop and manage a comprehensive publicity strategy for the Aspiring Eagles Academy program to include marketing strategies, analysis of enrollment trends, development of mailing lists, design and publication of various marketing materials.
Develop recruitment strategies and work with year-round staff and Office of Undergraduate Admissions to plan their domestic recruitment trips.
Oversee the development and annual revision of the unit’s web page.
Function Administrative Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Assist the Aspiring Eagles Academy Director in recruiting and hiring the unit’s year-round staff.
Mentor and supervise the year-round staff.
Direct and lead the annual recruitment and hiring process for summer staff, including Resident Assistants, Peer Mentors, transportation, academic coaches, teaching associates, writing tutors, coordinators, and participant supervisors.
Maintain liaison with internal and external educational and professional organizations to explore new program initiatives for Aspiring Eagles Academy and University College.
Provide administrative assistance to support accomplishment of program objectives and effective office operations.
