Overview: POSITION TITLE (Oracle title) DIGITAL LEARNING COORDINATOR WORKING TITLE Area Digital Learning Coordinator SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT Technology Services LOCATION Schools within an assigned area/Crossroads II, Cary, NC PAY GRADE Classroom Teacher (not eligible for National Board Pay) FLSA STATUS Exempt ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT No WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) POSITION PURPOSE: Increases the capacity of teachers to use technology and to develop curriculum to effectively integrate the use of technology in the teaching and learning process.
Advises School Media and Technology Advisory Committees (MTAC) and provides training and coaching support to staff on technology integration.
Provides information and support for the North Carolina Digital Learning Competencies for teachers and administrators at schools within an assigned area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) Extensive knowledge of state and national standards for curriculum including instructional technology; Extensive knowledge of pedagogical practices, instructional frameworks, and assessment; Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps; Excellent organizational and management skills; Ability to demonstrate successful experience of effective practices for teaching and learning; Ability to demonstrate success working with peers or other adults in leadership or training roles; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and community members.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Education from a regionally accredited college or university; OR Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from a regionally accredited college or university; Five years of successful school-based experience; Experience facilitating and coaching teams and individuals; Successful experience providing professional learning to instructional staff.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Computer Education (18079); OR Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Instructional Technology Specialist-Computers (00077); Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in an educational field; Five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs, implements, and supports learning opportunities for PreK-12 teachers intended to build capacity and expertise in the use of instructional technology in order to support all students.
Models integrated use of technology in the instructional process when conducting demonstration lessons and assisting with curriculum design and pacing.
Contributes to the development of school technology plans.
Facilitates data-driven decision making to determine classroom instructional needs.
Stays current with new and emerging technologies and their potential applications to the district.
Supports teachers in the use of learning management systems for instructional delivery and instructional resources.
Coaches faculty on the innovative use of digital tools to enhance student engagement.
Curates and integrates digital content to support learning.
Uses digital content to increase student engagement through the 4Cs (critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration).
Provides job-embedded professional learning to instructional and administrative staff.
Designs and develops age-appropriate digital learning experiences and assessments.
Uses technology to promote student-centered learning.
Promotes and models digital citizenship and responsibility.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers.
The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
