Position Summary The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is recruiting an academic Molecular Pathologist for a tenure-track/tenured, fixed-term, or variable track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
The successful applicant will function as an attending pathologist in the UNC Hospitals Clinical Molecular Genetics Laboratory, a full-service laboratory that performs cancer and heritable disease testing on approximately 20,000 cases annually.
The Clinical Molecular Genetics Laboratory is a component of the larger McLendon Clinical Laboratories in UNC Hospitals.
Responsibilities include molecular pathology case interpretation and diagnostic reporting, oversight of new assay development, and collaboration on clinical trials utilizing genomic data.
Faculty will participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and molecular tumor board.
Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly work to include research projects and teaching a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and staff.
The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Regular opportunities are available for teaching in the School of Medicine and the Graduate School.
For successful applicants with appropriate experience, opportunities for Medical Director leadership in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory and/or in other areas of McLendon Clinical Laboratories will be considered.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Applicants must have an MD or DO degree, be board-certified or board eligible in Molecular Genetic Pathology, and be eligible to obtain a medical license in North Carolina.
