Essential Duties
Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate learning.
Possess a thorough understanding of commercial cleaning concepts and core competencies.
Provide instruction and supervise training for a variety of commercial cleaning operations necessary to clean and care for building, maintenance of equipment, chemical and non-chemical cleaning operations and projects.
Educate students on relevant safety requirements, laws, and regulations pertaining to commercial cleaning trades.
Facilitate in-classroom learning and hands on training.
Train students on the proper operation of power tools.
Work with Supervisor to make sure all supplies are ordered for the class.
Control and monitor all inventory/tools/equipment used as a part of teaching class.
Complete VGCC paperwork with limited assistance and submit items in a timely manner for entering data into system.
Provide feedback to students regarding course progressions.
Maintain suitable class records, registration forms, attendance forms, evaluation forms, etc.
Submit paperwork to Coordinator at the end of class in a timely manner.
Inform Prison Staff and Coordinator of any student issues (attendance, behavior, etc.
) as soon as possible.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
Certificate in commercial cleaning or related field.
Three to five years’ experience in the field of commercial cleaning preferred
Education and Experience Preferred:
Custodial Technician Trainer Certified
Experience working in a correctional setting preferred
A minimum of 3 years teaching experience
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently as needed
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing for extended periods of time
