Clinical Nurse II-Duke Innovative Pain Therapies Clinic

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients at the Duke Innovative Pain Therapies Clinic.
Nurses in this role have the ability to float between different roles each week, which allows learning opportunities and variety.
Professional development can be achieved through the clinical ladder program and participation in clinic committees and initiatives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, provide and document professional nursing care in an ambulatory interventional setting, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the Nursing Program Manager.
Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
Assist providers in procedures that may include radiography.
Make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriate nursing actions taken, patient responses and patient education.
Assist in Dental Procedures.
Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care.
May be required float to another clinic.
Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
Support the development of other staff and formal learners.
Participate in the identification of clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities.
Preparing patients for clinic visits to include routine office visits and clinic procedures.
Triage RN duties may include but not limited to:
Managing the clinic Nurse Triage Line
Collect and analyze patient data based on information gathered from parent or caregiver via the telephone.
Communicate with patient’s medical provider regarding questions or concerns from parent or caregiver.
Communicate with other members of the patient’s care team when necessary.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
Job Hours:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
