*Core Responsibilities*
* Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA laws
* Escort patients to and from exam/treatment rooms
* Triage patients as necessary
* Administer vaccines and injections
* Able to take manual blood pressure
* Record patient data prior to the physician’s visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes
* Obtain necessary patient records and verify consent prior to treatment or procedures
* Assist physicians with exams and a wide variety of procedures, including but not limited to injections, dermatologic procedures, pelvic exams, EKGs, eye exams, managing dressings, POC lab tests, and performing x-rays (training provided)
* Administer medications orally, vaginally, rectally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and intradermally
* Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed
* Maintain proper disinfection protocols
* Schedule patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments
* Complete prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic imaging
* Complete all forms used by the provider, including but not limited to, growth charts, MPE, pap forms, cytology-pathology forms, etc.
* Phone in prescriptions and distribute proper medications as ordered by the provider
* Other duties as necessary
*Qualifications*
* High school diploma or equivalent, required
* Medical terminology experience, required
* Associates degree in Medical Assisting, preferred
* One of the following certifications is required: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
* 1-2 years of experience, preferred
* Must pass Avance Care Competency Check (Medical Knowledge Assessment and Vaccination Knowledge Assessment)
