Join our team at historic Pullen Park, North Carolina's first amusement park.
The Pullen Park campus contains 67 acres of gorgeous park land, offering a variety of activities to keep guests of all ages engaged and entertained.
Our offerings include a carousel dating to 1911, an original Wurlitzer 125 band organ, a CP Huntington scaled train, kiddie boats and pedal boats, in addition to a variety of events and programs that we host throughout the year.
The Historic Attractions Assistant Manager is a part-time position responsible for assisting park management with the day-to-day operations of facilities and programs at Pullen Park Amusements and other facilities as needed.
This role is also responsible for supervising park facilities and part-time staff in the absence of full-time park management.
Regular duties include performance of park opening and closing procedures, maintaining safe and effective ride operations, conducting safety checks, performing maintenance inspections, accounting oversight and monitoring part-time Historic Attractions staff.
This position includes shift work as well as evening, weekend and holiday duty.
Additional responsibilities may relate to additional management tasks such as scheduling, payroll, record keeping and retention, training, coaching, staff development and other duties as assigned.
Minimum availability of 3 ½ days and 25 hours per week is required to be considered for this role.
Shifts typically range from 8:30 AM - 9:30 PM (subject to change).
Duties and Responsibilities Oversee park opening and closing procedures, including bank out of cash drawers Ensure the proper operation of amusements in accordance with city procedures and state DOL policies Scheduling of PT staff and managing of payroll entry Coaching/Staff Development Records retention Responsible for safety and security of the park in the absence of full-time management Operate amusements as per DOL standards and City policies Function as Cashier, Caretaker or Parking Greeter as needed during breaks or shift gaps Assist with finding labor coverage for call ins and schedule gaps Act as shift supervisor for parking team on select weekends Assist with the setup, break down and maintenance of program related equipment Public speaking in front of small and large groups in scripted and unscripted situations Teach and coach staff members, including Caretakers, Cashiers, Attractions Operations, Attractions Leaders and Event Staff Cash handling Enforce city and park policies with patrons Required to obtain and maintain a First Aid and CPR certification Able to obtain and maintain PUV certification as well as patrol boat training through the City of Raleigh where applicable.
Provide exceptional customer services at all times Demonstrate consistent communication through multiple devices such as radios, computers and phones Monitor park for cleanliness and maintenance issues, resolving problems Resolve guest concerns, or pass along to management depending on the situation Drive City truck, including the possibility of towing a small trailer Use various vehicles (motor boats, gator, Paddle boats, Mountain Bike) to perform job duties.
Responsible for assisting facility staff with emergency and medical response, or being the point person in the absence of management Perform basic maintenance on equipment and facilities, reporting larger issues to park Data entry and modifications through the MS office suite Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor Typical Qualifications Licenses/Certifications Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Fluency in speaking, reading and writing in English.
Outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic.
Background in Parks and Recreation and/or Education.
Experience working with children is a plus.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to perform basic math computations with or without the assistance of a calculator.
Minimum 3.
5 days and 25 hours of availability.
Reliable transportation is required.
Additional Information Applicant must be able to work in both an indoor and outdoor environment.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
independently and 100 lbs.
cooperatively and able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Able to stand for up to eight (8) hours at a time.
Able to work in a considerably noisy environment.
Must have full use of arms and legs to operate equipment, climb stairs, and have bimanual dexterity (full use of both arms and both hands).
Able to work outside during the warm and cold months.
Must have eyesight of at least 20/30 with or without correction.
Must be able to hear at least 40 decibels in an environment producing 500 – 4000 hertz.
Must be able to perform the following movements: Balancing, Stooping, Crouching, Kneeling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Grasping, and Talking.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Employees in regular, recurring positions that require 1,000 scheduled work hours or more per year, whether these positions are full-time or part-time, are required to participate in LGERS.

Employees are required to contribute 6% of their total annual earnings on a pre-tax basis; LGERS establishes local government rates each year for City contributions.
